Lesson 2 Medeival Architecture
Hi Tenth Graders,
As I was planning for this lesson, I thought it would be important to give you guys visual aids so that you can have a clearer idea of what Medieval architecture lookes like. I have downloaded this PPT presentation from the following website http://middleages.pppst.com/church.html . We will take a look at it during class and discuss the characteristics of Medeival churches and architecture in general. If you want to view the PPT just click on the following link: http://www.scribd.com/word/embed/24469547

Quiz: Pillars of The Earth Prologue
Hi Students,
Hope that all is well and that you enjoyed the prologue of the book. After taking the quiz, we will get in to lesson one. We will be viewing a PPT. presentation in which we talk about mideival churches and how they look. I also want to give you the opportunity to discuss amongst yourselves what happens in the prologue. After a brief Think-Pair-Share session we will become familiar with Ken Follet and his materpiece "Pillars of the Earth." You may be asking yourselves, "Why on the earth did Jonah choose this light read?" as you have noticed, it is only 983 pages. Well I did it for several reasons. first of all: It is a book that will take you through an incredible journey of passion, hate, suffering and happiness. As you read it, you will notice that Follet is a master of description an has the ability to bring words to life. Secodly; if you are able to get through this book, no other book will seem long to you. This will be a great accomplisment! Thirdly; it fullfills the IB requirement for a novel. As you notice it is written in prose and is filled with vivid imagery, http://www.ken-follett.com/bibliography/the_pillars_of_the_earth.htmlmetaphors, similies, Allegories and all sorts of intertextual connections. I hope that you enjoy the book as much as I have.
